Glazed Lemon Chocolate Chip Bread

It's another lemon treat. If you don't like the idea of lemon and chocolate combined, this is not for you.

Preparations:
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • the grated peel of 1 lemon
Frosting
  • the juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Preparations:
  1. Beat sugar, shortening and eggs together.
  2. Separately mix flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Add flour mixture and milk alternatively to shortening mixture. 
  4. Add chocolate chips and lemon peel.
  5. Bake in a lined loaf pan at 375 degrees for 45 minutes or until a toothpick in the middle comes clean.
  6. Mix lemon juice and powdered sugar until icing is smooth.
  7. Cool loaf for ten minutes then top with icing.
