Since I started this blog, I've been making everything from scratch (except for the penne pasta) so I thought that I'd put scratch to the test. Today I brought two pans of brownies to work. One is made from scratch (the recipe is on the blog) and the other is made from a Betty Cocker mix and some added chocolate chips.
I'm inviting the fabulous folks I work with to take a poll and tell us which is better. Scratch? or the cheaper non time consuming method of a mix? If you have a minute, please take the poll to your right and share your opinion.
Thanks!!!

Both were great - I liked the chocolate chips in the store brand. However, Christina's homemade brownies had a deeper chocolate flavor, so overall I preferred these to the store brand.
Funny that sean would mention the chocolate chips. I thought the same thing. The other big difference is that the mix ones taste a little more oily. Good for taste, but probably not for the waistline.
I have to agree with the chocolate chunks in the mix brownies. However, I did like overall flavor in the scratch brownies.
I don't like Chocolate, but was afraid of what would happen to me if I didn't try them!!
The mix brownies were lighter and fluffier, but I prefer my brownies to be a little more dense, so I definitely prefer the scratch. They tasted different, but both had good flavor. I don't dig the mix brownies though because they are too cake-like. If I want cake, I'll eat cake, not brownies with the consistency of cake.
One word: brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Your home made brownies, with the 'special' ingredient, were clearly today's winner.
To start it off, I'm a huge fan of box-mix cookies. I know they aren't the best, but I've loved 'em my entire life. So you were at a huge disadvantage to start off with.
I definitely agree with everybody else about the chocolate chips. Nice touch!
And while the scratch ones had a better taste, I couldn't eat a whole one because it was too rich for me. So....I'm going to have to go with the boxed ones. Don't hate me. Great job, either way. Love the taste test idea. Keep them coming!
